Check out the services of Ruka Ski Resort for families and plan a joyful snow holiday!

For family’s small ones, skiing is a new, exciting adventure, which is easy to start at Ruka. Children’s own slope favourites Rosa & Rudolf Family Park, Rudolf Adventure Route, Mini Ruka, and Ruka Park Junior snow park offer joy for the whole skiing day.

The new tricks are learned at Ruka Ski School, and you and your friends can continue to play indoors at Ruka Kids'Club. Welcome to Ruka, both small and older children!

Masto Slope Area

The Masto slope area features the playful FunSlope and the enchanting Snow Valley, home to Ruka's own snow monsters. Ascending to the top is easy with the new eight-person chairlift, and Masto's slopes offer diverse terrain for the whole family to enjoy.

Rosa & Rudolf Family Park

Rosa & Rudolf Family Park Ruka

Rosa & Rudolf Family Park is Finland's largest ski area for the whole family and beginners. It is located in front of the Ski-Inn Hotel Ruka Valley in Eastern Ruka.

You can also enjoy the area without skiing equipment, thanks to the fun snow tubing hill, a skiing carousel and a children's playground area.

The longest slope in Rosa & Rudolf Family Park is the 280-meter-long Family Slope (slope number 20). In addition, several slopes are in the lower part of the Family Park (slope 22). There are also padded slalom sticks and ski-through gates reserved for skiers in the ski area. Rosa & Rudolf Family Park has a total of six magic carpets to take the skiers up to the hill.

Try all the activities

The tubing area is located on the upper part of the slope. There you can ride snow made chute with a snow tube. The snow tubes and helmets can be found in the container at the bottom of the V-Magic carpet, and they are available at no extra charge.

In the play area, you will find a wire slide, a bird's nest swing, a climbing frame, and a slide. There's also a skiing carousel in Family Park that is suitable for even small children. You don't have to go far to take a break, as you can eat your own snacks in the lightful and warm break room of the Family Park. It is also nice to grill sausages on the spacious sun terrace. The Camp Kitchen & Bar and Ski Bistro restaurants are located right next to the Family Park.

Rudolf Adventure Route

Rudolfin Seikkailureitti Ruka

Ski through the exciting Adventure Route, touch the reindeer’s silky chubs, and greet the huskies waving their tails - on the left side of the slope of Ahonlaita in Vuosseli, you will find the gate leading to the adventure in the forest.
Rudolf Adventure Route (slope number 26) runs zigzagging down a gentle slope and finishes at the final part of the Ahonlaita slope, and ends at the lifts VuosseliExpress and Kulma. Along the way, you can spot many of Rudolf’s forest animal friends, but it’s also worth keeping your ears open - do you hear sounds in the middle of the snow or from the tops of the trees?

There is a reindeer fence on Rudolf's Adventure Route, where the reindeer of the Kujala reindeer farm live. They are curious and cute, but don’t share your own food with these cute animals, as reindeer have their own feeding times.

Next to the reindeer fence there is a campfire, and you will find firewood in the shed nearby.

Mini Ruka & Ruka Park Junior

mini ruka

Located between Vuosseli Express and Family Park, Mini Ruka, and Ruka Park Junior offer fun activities for families and park riders of all ages.

The smallest skiers will be delighted by the new Mini Ruka slope area, where Rosa the bear and Rudolf the reindeer will have adventures along the slopes with their friends. The species of Oulanka National Park have inspired the animal figures on the slope, and children can spot a moose, an otter, a Siberian jay, and a hare.

Ruka Park Junior offers beginner-level jumps, rails and other jibbing features. At Ruka Park Junior, it’s easy to start practicing jumping and tracks, but the slope is fun for even the most experienced skier.

Please note that Mini Ruka & Ruka Park Junior do not belong to the Family Park area; you will need a valid lift ticket for these slopes.

Rosa & Rudolf Kids' Club

Kids'Club is an indoor playground for kids right next to the slopes of Rosa & Rudolf Family Park. During winter season Kids'Club can be used as a self-service playground with a valid lift ticket.

Snow racing

The snow racers take over the slopes of Ruka from Saturday to Thursday, from December to Easter. Come and experience the thrill of speed on a snow racer, on the slopes of Saarua 16, 18 and Kuru 5, which are normally intended for skiers - you can go up by gondola!

Ruka ski school

Ruka ski school is a versatile and safe way to learn skiing for even the smallest beginners. With the guidance of encouraging ski instructors, you will have an easy start to the joys of downhill skiing and snowboarding. Ski school lessons are recommended for 3 year-olds and older, but the appropriate starting age depends also on the child's own skills.

Ruka's carpet lifts are especially suitable for small children, but a child under 125 cm of height can also go to the lifts together with an adult. In the famous Werneri courses, 5-15 year old children learn to be independent and skilled skiers and snowboarders, and they will also learn the importance of safety on the slopes. At the ski school you will find suitable classes and courses for the whole family, both adults and youth.
